INTRODUCTION

Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) of Kanchanpur District established itself in 1990.

In 1994, NNSWA registered with the District Administration Office Kanchanpur and the Social Welfare Council. NNSWA has grown over the years, from administering a Save the Children funded Scholarship and Endowment Program to being one of the leading development organizations in the Far West Region of Nepal. Education and Early Childhood Development, HIV/AIDS, Adolescent Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Trachoma Reduction, Women's Empowerment, and Advocacy through rights based programs focused to Dalits, Disabled, Deprived (Women, Children, Freed Kamaiya, Arachhya Pidit and PLWHA) constitute its core focus and expertise. NNSWA has 134 General Members who constitute the General Assembly of NNSWA. 11 members of this General Assembly constitute an Executive Committee. Executive Members are elected by the General assembly for a term of 5 years. The Executive Committee has 6 Office Bearers (President, Vice-president, General Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-treasurer) and 5 Executive Members. 40 % of General Assembly and Executive Committee members are female. NNSWA has been working in all 9 districts of the Far Western Region of Nepal. The Executive Committee is the legally constituted body responsible for providing strategic and policy direction to NNSWA. NNSWA has its own three-storey office building having 16 rooms, 3 toilets and one equipped training hall at Mahendranagar Municipality in Kanchanpur district. NNSWA established a physical rehabilitation center (PRC) with 12 bed hostel facility. NNSWA has also established its sub offices in Kailali and Dadeldhura districts and various program are being implemented.
