Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) established itself in 1990. In 1994, NNSWA registered with the District Administration Office Kanchanpur and affiliated to Social Welfare Council Kathmandu. NNSWA has grown over the years, implementing various integrated community based development programs in Sudhurpaschim province being one of the leading development organizations in Nepal.
Project Description:
Under the partnership with Save the Children, NNSWA implemented the five year long Strengthening the NGO Sector in Nepal (SNSN) project, locally known as SANDEEP (Sansthagat Diego Pariwartan – Sustainable Organizational Change) since October 2004. The SANDEEP project aimed to strengthen the capacity of the following eight local non-government organizations (NGOs) and Support Organization (NNSWA) working in four districts of Mahakali Zone to improve delivery of health, education, and economic services in the conflict affected regions.
NNSWA's partner NGOs involved in SANDEEP were:
i. Nepal Education and Environment Development Society (NEEDS) – Kanchanpur
ii. Tharu Women's Forum (TWOF) – Kanchanpur
iii. Integrated Development Society (IDES) – Dadeldhura
iv. Women Development Society (WDS) – Dadeldhura
v. RUDES – Baitadi
vi. Basuling Development Society (BDS) - Baitadi
vii. Rajakot Youth Club (RYC) – Darchula; and
Markanday Development Community (MDC) – Darchula
