Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) established itself in 1990. In 1994, NNSWA registered with the District Administration Office Kanchanpur and affiliated to Social Welfare Council Kathmandu. NNSWA has grown over the years, implementing various integrated community based development programs in Sudhurpaschim province being one of the leading development organizations in Nepal.

Action Against Malnutrition through Agriculture (AAMA)

Project Description:

NNSWA successfully executed the Action Against Malnutrition through Agriculture (AAMA) Project in Kailali district during the year 2008 to 2012 under the financial support of Helen Keller International – Nepal (HKI). The aim of this project was to develop an integrated food security and nutrition district wide model that could be adapted and taken to scale in other areas of Nepal in order to reduce malnutrition and morbidity of under-two year children and pregnant and lactating women. Inclusive breastfeeding, ANC and PNC education and ensuring the using of all required immunization both mother and child, using of health facilities and attending the child birth in health institute were among the major activities of the projects. In addition it also had aim to enhance the skill of FCHVs on various health related subject through ENA (Essential Nutrition Action) packages.
