Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) established itself in 1990. In 1994, NNSWA registered with the District Administration Office Kanchanpur and affiliated to Social Welfare Council Kathmandu. NNSWA has grown over the years, implementing various integrated community based development programs in Sudhurpaschim province being one of the leading development organizations in Nepal.

Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

Project Description:

The CCDRM project was focused to the child centered disaster risk reduction and CBDRM project was focused to the person with disabilities. Some of activities undertaken under these programs were as below :

·  Support to develop Finalization/review of district disaster preparedness or contingency plan;

·    Training to DDRC/district level stakeholders and DDRC cluster on child protection issues;

·        Safe space and WASH training to education cluster (teachers and child club members);

·    Formation of village level district level relief committee and training on protection;

·    Training to FCHVs on water, sanitation and hygiene and mobilized for WASH education

·   Developing heightening water shade, renovation and repair of water source

·  Broadcasting of disaster and WASH related awareness message through FM.

·     Support for river training (bamboo piling)

·   Established community rescue group with materials (Life Jacket, Rope, Tube, Wooden boat)

·   Establish stock piling of disability assistive device for mitigation the risk at community level

·     Support to function local early warning system

·  Distribution food and none food items, Health education and treatment support in rescue camp

      Preparation of DRR plan in schools and VDCs
